Ganguram Sweets

About Us

Our journey Started over a Century old ago, a tiny Sweetmeat Shop existed on a land owned by Raja Kamala Prasad Mukherjee. Late Ganguram Chaurasia came from a remote village in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh to Kolkata in the 1880's. He was a skilled Halwai and could make mouthwatering Sweets. He took up a job in the shop owned by the Mr. Raja and used to supply Sweets to the Rajbari. However, when the Government decided to evict the shop in order to construct a road, the Raja, pleased with his service, allotted him a small plot of land near Maniktola north Kolkata, where our forefather set up a small sweetmeat shop in 1885. Since then Bengal Renaissance of the 19th century brought about remarkable changes in the culture & education in this region and Ganguram's has become an integral part of Bengali culture. We have a long list of illustrious clients whom we served such as Pandit Jawharlal Nehru, Satyajit Ray, Morarji Desai, Pandit Ravishankar, Bhimsen Joshi, similarly few foreign dignitaries such as Chou-en-Lai, Nikita Khrushchev Bulganin, The Queen Elizabeth-II  also tasted our sweets during their visit to our country.

Presently, we have over thirty outlets operating in form of our own shops, franchise model, shop-in-shop models, as well as counters at Railway Stations and Airports. We have partnered with IRCTC, Reliance, Spencers, TFS to offer customers over 300 varieties of delicious sweets, prepared on daily basis keeping hygiene and quality at the highest priority level.
